What a tremendous idea the Three Stooges dreamed up — producing a wonderful multi-fandom book full of stories and artwork from many different talented authors and artists here in our community, in order to support the lovely
lorie945 in her brave battle against illness! I feel privileged to have been a part of it all.
If my fairy godmother appeared tomorrow and granted me three wishes, I would ask to exchange those three wishes for her magic wand, so I could wave it any time and instantly make everyone's hopes and dearest wishes come true! *waves at Lorie*
Note to all "For Lorie" contributors: My RL is going crazy at the moment, but I *will* be starting to go through your work very soon — I'd be glad if you can bear with me in the meantime!

Waves Of Emotion
Around the first anniversary of Frodo's departure from the Grey Havens, Sam mysteriously vanished for several days, his note saying he needed time alone. Rosie, sensing his still-unfathomable grief, made no complaint when Sam returned, calm and smiling. The corked bottle now always in his pocket looked familiar — Mr Frodo's, wasn't it?
Alone, Sam sniffed his miraculous shoreline discovery once more; it still held the salty sea-tang. But the note inside was the best part, written in Frodo's unmistakeable hand.
"My dearest Sam,
I miss you dreadfully here, but I know one day we'll be together forever.
Your loving Frodo"

Yes, I didn't have the space to put this into the story but Sam just happened to be walking along this deserted, wind-swept beach, with the mournful cry of the seagulls in the background, then amongst the seaweed & driftwood, by some miracle he just happened to spot his wonderful discovery! ;-)

Date: 2008-02-16 08:02 am (UTC)Yes, Sam had a very long wait there, didn't he, with nothing certain to hold on to -- so I wanted to give him something in the meantime!
Thanks so much for reading & commenting ... :-)

And what a lovely discovery -- a message in a bottle.
You know, I've been wondering if that idea had already been explored by someone, but if so then I'm not aware of it. Hehe, I think there was perhaps a little Elven or Gandalf-instigated magic at work there ;-)
I really appreciate you reading & commenting -- thank you! :-)
