This is the second of two stories I contributed to For Lorie. I normally write LOTR RPS, but this was one of my rare forays into writing Tolkien's beloved characters.

Title: Big Folk
Fandom: The Lord of the Rings
Pairing: Frodo/Sam (implied Frodo/Faramir)
Word Count: 504
Rating: PG
Summary: Spending the night at Henneth Annun forces Sam Gamgee to change his opinion of men.
Author's Notes: The screencaps seen here did not appear in the book and were added as an illustration for this post.

The For Lorie project was unique, authors from multiple fandoms coming together to support a common cause, the fight against ovarian cancer, proving that entertaining people is still the best way to make them aware of an important issue. We all made a statement with our contributions, that nothing is more important than helping a friend. If reading this story whets your appetite for more and you'd like to purchase a print copy of the book, please contact [livejournal.com profile] baranduin.

And, lo! The LOTR Three Stooges, [personal profile] baranduin , [personal profile] trianne and [personal profile] claudia603 , decided that it would be a Good Thing to do something special for our friend [profile] lorie945 , who is battling ovarian cancer. And her friends replied that this would, indeed, be a Very Good Thing!

So a bunch of us wrote fanfics in Lorie's various fandoms, and a lovely, marvelous book, "For Lorie", was put together.

It was decided that these stories could be posted in February of this year. So hear, without much ado, is the little LOTR ficlet that was my contribution to this wonderful project.

Title: Three Words

Author name: Hewene ([personal profile] sayhello)
Fandom: LOTR
Pairing: :-)

Word Count: 665 (managed to lose one word in beta!)
Rating: G
Summary: Elanor finds an assignment both difficult and easy

Many thanks to Shoesparks, Claudia and Angharad for looking this story over & doing a great job of betaing, especially with such short notice!
Lorie, dear; would that I could write a story where you never had to go through all you’ve been through, and that it would somehow come true. Since that is Beyond me, I hope that this small offering will bring you, if not Instant Health, then, at least, Happiness. Much love, Hewene.

Fake cut to story. Elanor chewed on her quill in earnest...

I know we can now post our stories to LJ - but I can't for the life of me find the betad copy! Can you help please?

I haven't told you that I've got For Lorie! I'm so happy it got here safely. I love the long list of the stories and the lovely drawings.

*hugs Lorie and all the writers and artists*

I would like to thank the Three Hobbit Stooges for allowing us to have this opportunity to do something for Lorie.  And to Lorie for inspiring all of us with her stories over the years.

This is the first of two stories I contributed to For Lorie. I'd loved The Faculty for years, but this was my first attempt at writing characters from that fandom.

Word Count: 1567
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Sometimes making the wrong choice is the only way to figure out the right one.
Author's Notes: The artwork here is not mine, and did not appear in the book. It was added to illustrate this post.

Lily is being shy about posting her contributions to the project, which were immense.

Fic: A "Beyond" Universe Drabble
Author: Lily Baggins
Pairing: Frodo/Aragorn
Betas: Trianne and Baranduin
Summary: This drabble* is set in Lorie’s wonderful “Beyond” universe, during the story Fever, in which Frodo suffers from pneumonia.

In addition to contributing this fic, Lily also provided the beautiful Rohan-themed line drawing that was then used by the bookbinder to create the front cover of Lorie's leather-bound copy. The picture of it behind the cut gives a good idea but of course it was 100 times more beautiful in person.
